
It was hung prominently in a part of his house set up as a museum display, along with his Oscar and other important mementos. Groucho was photographed with the painting for this November 9, 1975 Parade Magazine article. The caption to the photo states that "Of all his old vaudeville and movie memorabilia, this painting is closest to his heart."
The painting, along with Groucho's other memorabilia, became part of The Groucho Marx Collection. It was willed to the Smithsonian Institution following Groucho's death on August 19, 1977.
